Valve released their take on card games back in November 2018, however, it failed to captivate audiences and ultimately was forgotten. Gabe Newell, head of Valive, even called it a “giant disappointment“, and that the developers are in the process of completely revamping the game . Good news though, is that we won't have to wait long to give it a try, as the Artifact 2.0 beta sign-ups are now live.
You can head to the official site to opt-in for the beta, by clicking here. As of now, Valve is prioritizing players who purchased Artifact prior to March 30, 2020. After which, invites will start to trickle out through a lottery system. Once all the players who signed up have access to the closed beta, Valve plans to transition to an open beta.
Beta testing will cover “gameplay, balance, hero identity, color identity, social features, card unlocks, ranked play, replays, spectating, and the campaign”, Valve says in the official FAQ. However, it does not include modes like tournaments and draft modes which will be added as more players come into the beta.
The biggest change Valve has stated is how you will acquire more cards, which they state: “we have some ideas about what we’d like to sell, but none of them are cards or packs". Below you can watch the official beta video.
