Unsurprisingly, EA Play has now been pushed back a week in order for more important voices to be heard. Many game companies have been pushing back their events, publisher Electronic Arts recently announced that the EA Play showcase will be delayed by one full week, in an attempt to let the focus remain on other more important conversations.
The announcement was made on twitter, where EA revealed that the new date for EA Play, which will be Thursday, June 18. The show will still start at 4:00pm PST/7:00pm EST, but besides release date information, there is no info on what to expect.
"With the important conversations taking place and important voices being heard around the world right now, we’re moving out time to come together in play,” EA said in its statement. This comment is in reference to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests that have broken out around the world in the wake of the murder of George Floyd.
