Rockstar Games's parent company Take-Two Interactive has some bad news for the release date of GTA VI. The company has essentially revealed that newest title in the series, Grand Theft Auto VI, won't be releasing anytime soon. During the latest earnings call, Take-Two Interactive said they are expecting a "light" fiscal year, at least in terms of releases. Meaning they don't expect to have any large releases from April 2020 to March 2021. Knowing Grand Theft Auto VI would be a huge seller for the company, we can assume with good confidence that the game won't be released within this timeframe.
With that being said, Take-Two Interactive did suggest that the next fiscal year would be much larger, which could mean GTA 6 will release sometime between April 2021 and March 2022. If that's the case, then the next game in the series could be revealed this year. Red Dead Redemption 2 for example was revealed two years ahead of its release, and this is typically what Rockstar Games' marketing strategy is when it comes to their biggest releases. So, if we are planning to see the game being released in 2021-2022, you can expect a reveal shortly.
Over the past years, rumors have been circulating that Grand Theft Auto would release as early as 2020, and those rumors seem dead in the water.
Recently, there has also been some conflicting reports in regards to the game development. Some have claimed the game is still in early stages, while others suggest the game is further along than we think. There have even been suggestions the game could release ahead of schedule. Its safe to say though, we won't see the game until at least March 2021, but keep an eye out for more news.
