General Wasteland 3 Showcases Character Creation, Combat, and More

Wasteland 3 is inXile Entertainment’s upcoming turn-based RPG set in post-apocalyptic Colorado. The series puts a major focus on tough, tactical battles with a reactive story that twists and turns, constantly changing. Today, the developers behind the game released a new diary video that gives us a look at character creation, customization, and combat.

With any Role Playing game, Wasteland 3 included, character creation, specifically your skill build, is incredibly important. The "quirk" system lets you equip characters with powerful traits that come with equally powerful detriments. You have to choose your character carefully as the trade off could be detrimental. Fortunately, inXile is putting an emphasis on making your stats as visible and understandable as possible. When character creation occurs, it shouldn't be confusing, and should allow you to make the best choices easily. Their developer video also shows some great tips for what to choose.

Wasteland 3 is also making rather large changes to its combat system. Instead of using an initiative system to decide who goes, the game has all of your party going at once. This means you’ll be able to use combos together, but also means your enemies all attack at once. That said, this evolution seems like a smart move. It should make it much easier to plan out attacks and keep your team flexible in the heat of battle.

Below you can watch a video of the developer video. Wasteland 3 launches on August 28 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
