General Information

Threads, Posts and Articles

1. Creating a Thread

Today, we will be looking at threads, posts and Articles on AFG. How do you post, create threads, reply to threads, commenting and Articles. To start, lets look at how you create a Thread on AFG. A thread is a topic or the start of a discussion in one of our designated forums. To start a thread you have a few options, first is on the "Forum" section.

From here, you are greeted with a "Post Thread" action in the sidebar. This will then prompt a list of different forums to choose from to begin your post. Select your section then start writing!

Other options include using the blue pencil icon on the forum screen, or selecting post new thread on the forum you are selected in.

2. Replies
There are a few different ways to reply to a thread/article, or even someone else's posts. Those being comments, and reply. A comment is similar to Facebook or Reddit, in the sense that it builds off the existing reply. These are great for quick info, but should be used for full replies.

As you can see, a comment is just a quick message to the person whom you are reply too. This is great for adding information quickly, agreeing or so on. However, comments can only be nested 4 times.

As seen, after the fourth reply, the comments will stop, and you will have to make a full reply in order to continue a response. You can still comment on other comments, but only to the limit of 4 deep. So again, this is meant for quick data.

Replies allow you interact and respond in the their respective threads/articles. You can quote the person above, and build off their info or reply to their topic. This is the main form of communication and allows for more detail. You can also @ people so they are notified of your response. Of course, you don't have to quote either, rather simply enter your text and hit post reply.

To quote someone though, you can hit "reply" on their post, and it will automatically add the quote and @ into your reply. You can do this on unlimite

This is what a normal reply will look like, and as you can see, by just typing you can post anything you want (within the rules limitations) as a reply to the thread.

3. Articles
Articles have a similar layout as threads and posts. From here you can post and reply as you normally would but the layout is different. Articles can be found on the homepage, in a tile/grid view. From there select any and you can read the latest gaming news.

If you scroll down, you will also see detailed info on the author, original sources, and a place to make a comment. Comments again are for quick responses or shares.

You may have also noticed the navigation center above the articles.

As you can see, there are two separate sections. Lets look at the top one first. "General" refers to the article category you are in. By clicking that, you will be taken to all of the articles that have general gaming news. Such as new releases, updates etc. If you hit "Gaming News" you will be taken to that category, which houses sections like Xbox or PlayStation, with specific news surrounding those platforms. If you hit "Home" you will be brought back to the homepage of the website.

As for the next section lets start with "Article". The main area to read and also see latest articles in the sidebar. You can also do commenting from here. "Gallery" holds any and all images related to the article, so you can save them or view separately. "Discussion" will take you to a thread dedicated to talking about the topic. This is meant for more in depth discussion or additional content if you have any.
